Wimbledon 2009 has thus far run smoothely, few upsets here or there bot most top seeds (except Nadal) have reached the round of Quarters and Semifinals. I will break it down for both mens and womens.
Womens:
Dinara Safina vs. Venus Williams
It's a tough choice between Dinara and Venus. Dinara is one of the hardest workers on the tour. She goes out there and has a a great forehand, however her serves is shakey. She lets her emotions get the best of her in a tight match. Playing Venus William 5 time Wimbledon Champ, you're going to have to have some confidence. Even though Dinara is seeded first due to Wimbledon using their own system of seeding not based on rankings she will have to do her best and very best against the 2nd seed, Venus. Venus Williams is without a doubt, the favorite in this match-up and tournement. She's won here 5 times, is playing excellent the season, and her serve is un parrelled. Let's not waste time here, my money's on Venus.
Elena Dementieva vs. Serena Williams
It's a battle between the 4rd seed Dementieva and the 3rd seeded Williams. This match won't be as predictable as the other top semifinal but I do see it leaning more towards Serena. She's one of the game's biggest hitters. She has forceful ground strokes and a serve that leaves you spinning. I do think it will go to 3 sets and force Serena into her hardest match of Wimbledon yet. I would love to see an all Williams sister final, but first both Americans will have to go through both Russians.
Mens:
Andy Roddick vs. Llyeton Hewitt
I can't even call this one. Andy's been playing great, biggest serve in the mens game. He's a hard hitter with great determination but will it be enough to overcome once Wimbledon Champion Llyeton Hewitt? Who knows. This match is open for anyone to win.
Andy Murry vs. Juan Carlos Ferrero
Andy Murry... Andy Murry all the way. Murry, ranked 3rd, will be a tough challenge for Juan Carlos if he'd like to win, but honestly, I don't think it will happen. I soud a little biased, but Murry all the way
Tommy Haas vs. Novak Djokovic
Although I don't expect Novak to win the tournement, I do expect him to win this match. He is going to over power, over work, and out think Mr. Haas. I predict that it will go atleast to 4, maybe 5, sets but I don't forsee Tommy pulling out the win. We will have to see.
Karlovic vs. Roger Federer
Roger Federer, enough said.
